Questions we get asked
Will the AI give medical advice or tell a patient what to do about symptoms?
- No. The agent does not assess symptoms, does not triage and does not reassure. As soon as a patient describes a symptom, in a call or in a WhatsApp thread, the conversation is handed to a person: your nurse line, the clinician on call, or the emergency instruction you configure. This is a hard escalation trigger applied regardless of how confident the model is, and it is the first thing tested before anything goes live.
What stops the AI double-booking a slot or looping a patient through reschedules?
- Two things, both operational. Slots are held at the moment the agent offers them and the hold is confirmed or released before the conversation ends, so two simultaneous conversations cannot be given the same 09:30. Reschedules are capped: after a set number of moves on one appointment, or a move inside the cancellation window, the agent stops offering alternatives and hands the patient to the desk. These are the two failure modes that actually bite in production, and both are configuration you own.
Does this work on WhatsApp, or only on the phone?
- Both, and in most GCC clinic deployments WhatsApp carries more of the volume than voice. The same agent answers the branch phone number and the WhatsApp thread, with the same patient record, the same booking rules and the same escalation triggers, so a patient who starts in a thread and then calls does not start again. Voice connects to your existing telephony: SIP trunks, contact center platforms, cloud PBX and licensed operator numbers.
Where does patient data live and who can see it?
- In region, under the UAE PDPL, Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021. The agent connects to the practice management system you already run and reads only the fields the task needs, so a booking conversation does not open a clinical history. Access is scoped by role, retention windows are set by you, and every read and write is logged against the conversation that caused it. On-premise deployment is available where the group's policy requires the data never to leave its own estate.
