Teams that shortlist PolyAI are usually buying an outcome: an enterprise voice agent that someone else designs, tunes and maintains. The useful question about alternatives is which vendors can take on that same responsibility for your callers, in your languages and inside your data rules, and which ones hand you a platform and leave the running to your team.
This guide compares nine PolyAI alternatives across both groups: enterprise vendors such as Sierra, Decagon and Parloa, regional companies such as Maqsam and CNTXT AI, and self-serve platforms for teams that would sooner build. Every fact comes from each company's own site or a named public source, checked on 4 October 2026.
xAIa publishes this guide and ranks itself first for Gulf deployments. xAIa is a Dubai-based AI consultancy that is working on its voice AI infrastructure, while also deploying on Vapi as a listed Vapi service partner. Read it as a comparison written by an interested party.
Why teams look for PolyAI alternatives
PolyAI sells managed enterprise voice agents, built on its own model, Raven, and describes its product as an agentic dialog platform. Buyers who compare it with others usually do so for one of three reasons.
Pricing on request. PolyAI prices per minute, and its pricing page says the rate covers ongoing performance improvements, maintenance and 24/7 support. Rates are given on request, so buyers collect comparable quotes before they commit.
Region and language. The customers PolyAI names are in North America and Europe. When we checked on 4 October 2026, the homepages of PolyAI, Sierra, Decagon and Parloa did not mention Arabic or the Middle East. A Gulf buyer needs Gulf Arabic dialects, UAE telephony and a clear answer on where audio is processed, and should get each one confirmed in writing by every vendor on the shortlist.
Ownership. Some teams decide they want to own the agent, build it on a platform with their own engineers, and trade a managed contract for control.
Best PolyAI alternatives in 2026
xAIa (best for Gulf enterprises that need Arabic, in-region deployment and a team that runs it)
xAIa is the AI consultancy and implementation arm of PRO TECHnology Group, based in Dubai. It designs, builds and deploys AI employees for every department, across voice, WhatsApp, chat and back-office work. It works on the same managed model as PolyAI and runs them for you after go-live. Each AI employee connects to your CRM and ERP through Agent API, xAIa's own integration layer, which follows your screens, fields and rules and has a supervisor agent check every entry before it is saved. Across its deployments, xAIa's AI employees have handled 600,000+ calls in a routine month, with a record month of 750,000 calls, a record day of 57,000 and 63+ agents in production. They speak 90+ languages, including Gulf Arabic dialects, and respond in about half a second. xAIa deploys on-premise, in-region or air-gapped where a mandate requires it, as set out in our guide to on-premise voice AI for Gulf government and enterprise, and deployments typically move from pilot to production in 30 days.

Pricing: outcome-based, by Sierra's own description.
Decagon (for support teams adding voice to chat and email)
Decagon builds AI agents for customer support across voice, chat and email. It fits support organisations that want one vendor for written and spoken service.
Pricing: no public rate card when we checked.
Parloa (for enterprise contact centres with European operations)
Parloa offers an AI agent platform for enterprise customer service, priced per minute for voice and per interaction for chat. Its published customers are mostly European, so it fits contact centres with operations in Europe.
Pricing: custom plans, through its sales team.
NiCE Cognigy (for enterprises already running NiCE CXone)
Cognigy became part of NiCE when NiCE closed the acquisition on 8 September 2025, and it is available within the CXone platform and as a standalone offering. It fits an enterprise already inside the NiCE estate. One detail matters for Gulf buyers with residency rules: Cognigy's documentation states that on-premises installations are no longer offered to new customers, so new deployments run on Cognigy SaaS, a managed cloud environment operated by Cognigy.
Pricing: no public rate card when we checked.
Maqsam (for contact centres that want software to manage their contact centre, with an AI agent on top)
Maqsam sells customer service software for contact centres and adds an AI agent on top of it. It fits teams that want the software that manages their contact centre and the AI agent from the same vendor.
Pricing: usage-based and prepaid.
CNTXT AI (for Arabic AI voices and models in regulated sectors)
CNTXT AI is a UAE company that builds Arabic AI voices and models for regulated sectors.
Pricing: no public rate card when we checked.
Retell AI (for teams ready to build in-house on a self-serve platform)

Pricing: $0.07 to $0.31 a minute for voice agents.
Vapi (for developer teams and partners building their own agents)
Vapi is an API-first platform for developers, with transcription, model and voice providers passed through at cost. xAIa also deploys on Vapi, so weigh our view of it accordingly.

How to choose a PolyAI alternative
Three questions settle most shortlists.
- How much of the agent do you want to own? A managed vendor such as xAIa, PolyAI or Sierra designs, tunes and maintains it. A platform such as Retell AI or Vapi gives your engineers the controls and the responsibility. A packaged product such as Maqsam sits between the two.
- Where must the audio and data live? If call audio has to stay in the UAE or inside your own infrastructure, that requirement removes vendors before any demo. xAIa can keep everything sovereign: AI employees deployed on-premise, in-region or air-gapped, so conversations and records stay inside the jurisdiction that governs them, as our guide to data residency for GCC customer conversations explains, and PII redaction and encryption protect callers' personal data. Get every vendor's deployment options confirmed in writing for new customers specifically, since Cognigy's documentation shows those options can change.
- Can the vendor prove its Arabic on your calls? Ask for a pilot on recordings of your own callers, scored against the outcomes you care about. Our buyer's guide to AI voice for call centres lists the questions to put to every vendor.
A managed voice AI vendor is worth what it can prove on your own calls. Before you sign, ask for published production volume, a pilot on your recordings in the dialects your callers use, a written answer on where the audio is processed, and a named team that will still be tuning the agent six months after launch.
What to ask a managed voice AI vendor in the Gulf
Published production evidence is the fastest filter. Ask how many calls the vendor's agents have handled, over what window and across how many live agents. xAIa publishes its figures: 600,000+ calls in a routine month across deployments, a record month of 750,000, and a single anchor client, a UK utility and energy brokerage, at 350,000+ calls a month.
Ask for compliance evidence as well as assurances. In the UAE that means consent and Do Not Call handling under Cabinet Resolution No. 56 of 2024 on the Telemarketing Regulations, personal data handling under Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, and a record of every call. Our guide to TDRA, DNCR and PDPL rules for voice AI covers each one, and ComplAI, our compliance intelligence platform, reviews every call against the rules that govern it.
Ask, too, how the agent writes to your systems. An agent that handles the call well and then picks the wrong option from a long list, leaves a required field empty or creates a duplicate customer passes the clean-up to your team. xAIa built Agent API for this: it maps every screen, field and rule your team uses, and a supervisor agent checks each entry against the conversation before it saves.
Where xAIa fits
xAIa is built for Gulf organisations that want the PolyAI model, a vendor that owns the agent's performance, with Gulf Arabic and in-region deployment options built in. We design each agent around your call types, connect it to your numbers, CRM and escalation paths, and keep tuning it after go-live.
The connection to your systems is where xAIa is different. Agent API, the integration layer we built ourselves, maps every screen, field and rule your team uses, so the AI employee files each call the way your trained staff would, and a supervisor agent checks every entry before it saves. It runs inside the boundaries your IT and compliance teams set, with the CRMs, ERPs, helpdesks and in-house systems Gulf enterprises already run, and integration takes the first two weeks of a 30-day deployment. In one UAE retail and home appliances deployment, AI employees run inbound service, extended warranty, dealer complaints and feedback on a single CRM, and the phone team moved from eight people to three.
Every call also leaves evidence your team can act on. The outcome lands in your system with the summary, transcript and recording link attached, along with an audit trail of what was entered, checked and corrected. Anything the AI employee could not confirm is logged with a note and routed to the right person, and ComplAI reviews every call against the rules that govern it, so you can monitor what happened on each call and understand why.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best PolyAI alternative in the Middle East?
For Gulf enterprises, xAIa, the AI arm of PRO TECHnology Group, based in Dubai. It designs, builds, deploys and runs AI employees that speak 90+ languages, including Gulf Arabic dialects, deploys them on-premise, in-region or air-gapped where a mandate requires it, and connects them to your CRM and ERP through Agent API. Deployments typically move from pilot to production in 30 days.
What is the difference between a managed voice AI vendor and a voice AI platform?
A managed vendor designs, deploys and maintains the agent and is accountable for how it performs. A platform such as Retell AI or Vapi provides the tools, and your team builds, tunes and monitors the agent on them. The choice comes down to whether you want to staff that work yourself.
Which PolyAI alternatives can deploy on-premise?
xAIa deploys on-premise, in-region or air-gapped where a mandate requires it, so conversations and records stay inside the jurisdiction that governs them. Our guide to on-premise voice AI for Gulf government and enterprise sets out how each option works. Cognigy's documentation states that on-premises installations are no longer offered to new customers, so ask every vendor on your shortlist to confirm its deployment options in writing.
How long does it take to deploy a managed AI voice agent?
At xAIa, deployments typically move from pilot to production in 30 days: Agent API connects the AI employee to your systems in the first two weeks, and the rest goes into conversation design and tuning with your team. Timelines elsewhere depend on scope, integrations and languages, so ask each vendor for the timeline of a comparable live deployment.
